The winter sun shining mercilessly through the glass doors, highlighting, in the way that only winter sunshine can, all the dirty bits. This lead my eye to the space under his toaster. It’s like mine. Fucking toasters. Always vomiting out crumbs. Sometimes I like to shake mine, to see if they ever stop falling out. But they don’t. They just keep coming. He clearly cleans how I clean (or visa versa) This year I’m going to learn which corners to cut. There’s never enough time for perfection in all things. Cleaning around things is certainly one I’ll be continuing with.
